Mixtape Review: Yung Tone - Rubberband Lingo 3 - Mixed by DJ Reddy Rock

Here is my mixtape review segement - just wanted to start it off one of the top artists in my market Indianapolis, IN Yung Tone. Yung Tone is an artist from the popular indie label Munki Boi Ent (of "On My Momma" fame) and has released his 4th mixtape in time for the holidays. "I'm Here Now" and Rubberband Lingo Vol. 1 & 2 have built his following and many expect him to break out in the mainstream before the end of 1st quarter 2012. Without further ado.....

Overall Mixtape: I personally think the mixtape is VERY well rounded and easy to listen too. After the first listen, you definitely want to go back to the tape and listen to the songs over again. Most of production has been handled by Swiff tha Gift, D Golder and many others. The first thing I realized was the number of features on the tape. Tone has reached out to many of the artists in the market and it shows on the diversity in the songs. The first highlight of the tape is the collaboration "My Trap Boom" - featuring Vinnie, Goldie P and Swoe. The beat is on point and the hook written by Goldie P catches you right away. Swoe's feature is memorable and this is definitely a track to put on rewind. The mixtape does not let you rest as the next couple of songs take you into the collaboration with label mate G Fresh and Yo Gotti. 448, 1008 grams is a GREAT song (again produced by Swiff The Gift) and creates the Memphis/Indianapolis Midwest connection. The very next song "On A Pole" - ft Rell is a definitely a strip club anthem and ladies are going to love this track! The next track that catches your attention is 365 Dope Grind ft Dro Man and G Fresh - Dro Man spits a memorable bar on his feature "I-65 down 465 trying to get my $ up and buy a 745". The remix to the song "Maxie" has also been included with updated features from Yella, Dro Man, G Fresh, Tone Goody. The tape keeps you captivated with songs like "Still Taxin", Real Nigga, Ima Get Paid ft Mike E, and ends with the switch up in feel with "Feel Good" ft Golder. Low moments include "She bad" which could have been left off the tape. Overall, I am very pleased with the mixtape and how it was put together. DJ Reddy Rock does a good job of mixing drops and other beats at the right time and there is not too much yelling, etc. Definitely a banger for the end of 2011.

I give this mixtape: 3 1/2 out of 5 Bands
